My research focused on the modelling of long-range and convective transport of chemical species in the troposphere and lower stratosphere and is part of project CARIBIC. For this, I calculated (backward) trajectories based on the position of the aircraft and analysed the meteorological situation during the flight. Some of the results can be found below.

Further information:

The plots below show the potential vorticity (PV) the aircraft encountered during its flight. The PV at the aircrafts' position (every 2-3 minutes) is obtained by interpolation (in space and time) from 1° x 1°, 6 hourly ECMWF-data. The tropopause is at the 2 PVU-level.
