ECaccess: Secure Connection Failed
For some time now, the security policy of Firefox and Seamonkey does not allow to access
several ECMWF (and probably also other) sites. You can not reach the ECMWF login page and
the ecaccess gateways to change settings for e.g. ectrans. Instead you will get a message
Secure Connection Failed
Fortunately, there is a workaround:
- Type about:config in de adressbar of the browser (because
of security this does not work as a link from this page).
- Type in the Search bar: security.ssl3
- You will get a list with attributes that start with that, among which
security.ssl3.dhe_rsa_aes_256_sha, and possibly also
Set all of these to false (right mouse button on the value, and toggle).
- When you go to the site that did not work before, the message is milder (This
Connection is Untrusted) and at the bottom, below I Understand the Risks you can use
Add Exception. When you confirm that, you should be able to reach the site.
