Rainfall monitoring with opportunistic sensors
by L.W. de Vos (KNMI),
In this thesis the potential of using opportunistic sensing techniques to monitor rainfall at high temporal and spatial resolution is evaluated. The techniques that have been explored are rainfall measurements by personal weather stations (PWSs) that have been crowdsourced from online weather platforms, and rainfall estimates derived from power levels in commercial microwave link (CML) networks.
